Here at Pure Wander, we’ve discussed how to plan the best vacation in Niagara Falls in the past, complete with hotel choices and attractions, but today we thought we’d cover something we missed: where you should eat!

Of course there are plenty of places on both sides of the falls, all of which have their own charms, but we’re going to focus on two restaurants on the Canadian side that are sure to suit you. After all, all that adventure is sure to make you hungry – it just depends whether you want views and fine food or a sportsbar with attitude!

The Keg Steakhouse & Bar

If you’re looking for a restaurant situated right alongside the shores of Niagara Falls then you will love The Keg Steakhouse & Bar. As this eatery is situated on the 9th floor of the Embassy Suites you’ll have access to some of the greatest views in North America while eating some delicious food. The menu includes a variety of steak options including filet mignon, prime rib and New York striploin, but there are also plenty of vegetarian-friendly options and fish available.

As if that wasn’t impressive enough, The Steakhouse is just down the street from one of Canada’s top casinos, the Fallsview Casino Resort. There are a total of 3,000 slot machines, some of which you may have only ever found online, as well as 130 different table games including Texas Hold’Em, arguably the most popular variant of poker and an “easy game to learn, but difficult to master” according to this guide to Texas Hold’em strategy. Needless to say, you might want to get some practice before you go and play with the big guns here.

Speaking of local attractions such as casinos, we understand if you’d rather spend money on sightseeing than your meal. That’s where Blue Line Diner comes in. As it is the fifth most popular restaurant in Niagara Falls, Canada you may think that this place is an expensive and overly fancy joint, but this couldn’t be further from the truth.

For many years now, Blue Line Diner has been celebrated amongst tourists and locals alike for providing a fun atmosphere, delicious food and all for extremely reasonable prices. On the lunch menu you’ll find everything from soup to burgers to traditional British fish and chips, while the breakfast menu has everything you could ever dream of. However, if you’re a hockey fan then you’ll probably be preoccupied looking at the Wall of Fame, which includes hockey heroes Gerry Cheevers, and Dennis Hull just to name a few.

These two places may be a little different, but that’s the best thing about Niagara Falls; there’s something for everyone! Here are some other local places you may want to try while you’re there:

  • AG
  • Scoops
  • Weinkeller
  • Tide & Vine Oyster House
  • Queen Charlotte Tea Room
  • Flying Saucer Diner
  • Pho Xyclo
  • The Works Gourmet Burger Bistro

Have you been to Niagara Falls? Do you like to eat local when you travel or stick to the comforts of home?
