Review: Gigi’s Bed and Breakfast, San Fransisco California

By June 30, 2015July 1st, 2016No Comments

Nestled in the Richmond area of San Francisco, a few blocks from the Pacific Ocean and the Golden Gate Park, lies Gigi’s Bed and Breakfast. Located on one of those wonderful steep city hills, on 43rd Ave, Gigi has created a perfect urban inn in a residential neighborhood. It has all the flavor and unique aspects of San Francisco.  A full apartment awaits those who stay here, complete with a bedroom, living room, a small kitchen and a wonderful garden outside the bedroom doors. It’s relaxing to wake up, walk outside, sit on a contoured wooden bench and enjoy some of Gigi’s delightfully strong coffee with the smell of flowers in the air and the humming of bees from the Inn’s hives.beekeeping garden gigis san fransisco jake wright

Gigi’s Perks

This Inn has only the one accommodation, so I had my complete privacy with my own entrance. There is enough space for numerous guests with a pull down futon in the living room and queen sized bed in the bedroom. The small kitchen has a microwave and fridge with complimentary wine, beer and water upon it shelves. A old tin candy box is filled with chocolate, which my late night sweet tooth gratefully devoured. The bathroom and shower were spotless and fully stocked with shampoo and specially made soap.

A Tasty Welcome

The hosts of Gigi’s Bed and Breakfast; Gigi and Andy were especially accommodating, inviting me to tantalizing barbeque chicken, perfectly grilled over charcoal and wood chips served with garden fresh veggies and perfectly seasoned roast potatoes. Seconds? Yes please. It felt wonderful to have an evening of great food, lively conversation and delicious espresso at the end to wash it all down.

Worth the Early Rise

Waking up in the mornings to a delightfully healthy breakfast outside my door, just waiting for me is something that I will never take for granted. Succulent fresh fruit, with yogurt and a warm croissant or biscuits for the two mornings I stayed made me wish I woke up to this every day. A perfectly set and intimate breakfast table and a Keurig machine with a diverse selection of coffees and teas suited my caffeine addiction to perfection.

At Gigi’s Bed and Breakfast I felt truly welcome and was able to work, watch the sunset from the ramparts of an wooded park only blocks away and drive the short distance to catch the warm California sun’s’ rays at Ocean Beach. The light shines bright and warm at Gigi’s and the fragrances of her cooking, coffee and garden beckon me inside and call to me to come back next time I am in San Francisco.
